Danbro have been providing umbrella services to contractors for around 10 years and they offer several options for their customers to choose from. Their website is excellent and packed full of information for contractors and agencies alike. Danbro have a few accreditations including Professional Passport.
Our experience
The Danbro telephone line is answered by an automated machine that guides you to the correct department in relatively quick time, when we were connected to the new business department we found the Danbro staff member to be very knowledgeable, extremely professional and helpful. We were asked lots of questions to determine if we qualified to claim travel expenses under the 24 month rule, the questioning style was excellent and made us feel very reassured that we were speaking to true umbrella experts. Danbro asked for our contract details, agency and industry we were working in, they used this information to help them determine whether our assignment could be classed as temporary.
Danbro charge a £22.00 fee for weekly payroll and £68.67 for their monthly option. There are no other charges unless you request a CHAPS (same day) payment, this would cost £6.00. Danbro then proceeded to explain why we should trust in their compliant services and spoke of their accreditations which include Professional Passport. Danbro told us that they comply with all UK laws and would be happy to provide proof to agencies. We then were advised about employee rights when contracting through an umbrella company and that we would be entitled to all the statutory employment benefits such as sick pay (SSP) and others. We would also be covered by the Danbro business insurances.
Expenses can be claimed online via their portal or by SMS, email, fax etc. It seems that Danbro have really tried to provide their customers with comprehensive service and succeeded. We were advised that any expenses we claim should be genuine and wholly and exclusively for the purpose of our contract, they told us they have a dispensation and then ran through the expenses that we can claim as a Danbro employee. These include, travel, subsistence (meals), parking and many others. Receipts are required for some of these expenses.
Danbro do not hold holiday pay back, it is paid out within your weekly and monthly payroll and they discussed how this would show up on our payslip. We requested an email with further information and a personal illustration and it was received within minutes and contained lots of information including our illustration.
Overall umbrelladetective.com was very impressed by Danbro, they seem like an umbrella company at the top of their game. They were well versed in all legislation and the staff member we encountered was full of knowledge, very professional and provided exceptional customer service.
